Does anyone want to read a book together????
The Martins and I have been talking and we think it's time to start a blog study group where we can share ideas and thoughts on certain books.
We were thinking, in particular right now, about devotionals or bible studies because we need a boost for fall....but our minds are open to ALL suggestions!!
(I am STARVING to read The Purpose Driven Life again because it's just so stinkin' inspirational.)
Does anyone else have any ideas?
Let me know! :)

I just read The Road to Reality by K.P. Yohannan and it changed my life. It makes it so clear that our purpose here on Earth is to do what we can to reach out to lost souls and help bring others to an eternity in Heaven, rather than ignoring them and letting them die without ever hearing about Christ. We tend to get so wrapped up in "Christian" life and activities, yet we are often missing the entire reason we are here, the whole purpose of the Gospel.
Anyway, didn't mean to preach, just wanted to share a book that really put things into perspective for me! ;)
Here's the direct link to the book, which can be found among others at gfa.org.

There's always the classic "My Utmost For His Highest." I purchased "Confronting the Casual Christian" by Charles Stanley, but I need something meatier then what Mr. Stanley puts forth. Don't get me wrong, I like to listen to what Charles Stanley has to say, but I'm more of a John MacArther kind of guy. I also like Paster Jack Hayford. I haven't read anything by Alistair Begg, but I've been meaning to; he's a pretty pithy teacher.
Ray Vander Laan is an awesome resource. "echoes of His presence" is one of his books. Vander Laan also has a great video series out there under the "That the World May Know" ministries. I suggest starting with Faith Lessons Video Series: Old Testament Set and Faith Lessons Video Series: New Testament Set. That will give you something to chew on for a good while. Plus you can get the group leader materials to go along with it. The cost is worth it. He really brings the scriptures to life as he travels through the Holy Land.
If you haven't read "The Five Love Languages" by Gary Chapman, then I'd have to say ..... what are you waiting for?!? That's a good one to read, and re-read.
"The Christian in Complete Armour" by William Gurnall is a bit academic, but a good read nonetheless.
The "Principles of War: A Handbook on Strategic Evangelism" by Jim Wilson is a quick read and worthwhile.
"Romantic Love" by Dr. James Dobson is very good.
"The Loveliness of Christ" by Samuel Rutherford, is a nice compilation by Jim and Bessie Wilson with excerpts from Samuel Rutherford's letters. Excellent stuff.
(Sadly, I am a man of unclean lips; so, while I'm working on the cessation of expletives I don't normally draw attention to the fact that I am a Christian for fear it will diminish the body. Anyhoo, that should keep you busy for a while.)
I'm in!!! Open for anything uplifting!!!
I'm definitely in. The purpose driven life is great. So is "The five Love Languages. We're actually getting ready to start that in our sunday school class this next week. My utmost for his highest is also good.

A really good one is "If you want to walk on water, you have to get out of the boat" by John Ortberg.
My wife and I would be interested in joining if it's an open call...
Just FYI, these are all 25% till August 31st.
HomeBuilders
Ermm....sorry...that should have been 25% off.
I agree with Methatiam... if this is open to all, I'm up for it.
Post the book you choose when you get that far. I may be interested (You know, funds permitting).
Me too!
I suggest something by CS Lewis - like Til We Have Faces - a novel and then some...
Or The Man Who Was Thursday by GK Chesterson...
Hey girl... wow I must have some how missed this post. I'm sorry sweetie... forgive me? :o) Just let me know what you want to do. Brenton and I have started the purpose driven life and are like on day 14 (I think lol) but we can go back to the beginning and start posting about that if you would like? I love this idea! :o) Can't wait. :o) Just let me know. If you want we can talk about all sorts of books too... or make a different site for that. It's up to you :o) Talk to you soon.
I have the Purpose Driven Life and would love to "join" a group and read together!
